Purpose and Mission
This position is responsible for assisting the Payroll/Total Rewards/Human Resources Teams on a corporate-wide basis with the administration and implementation of the Corporation's human resources, total rewards, and payroll functions. Duties will be shared with the Total Rewards/Payroll/ Human Resources Teams and cross training among members is expected.
This hybrid position (3 days in the Office , 2 days remote) will be based in our Corporate Office, Atlanta, GA
Key Activities and Responsibilities
PAYROLL ADMINISTRATION:
- Basic knowledge of payroll process including calculations, processing, software, reports, and problem solving for the U.S. and Canada
- Back up for processing the Corporate Payroll, including entering or checking new hires/maintenance, gathering timesheets, and preparing payroll import files
- Back up for processing location payrolls as needed and sending 401k file for processing to Empower
- Prepare and/or review all tax payments and reports (next day, monthly, quarterly, and annually). This includes all federal, state, and local withholding taxes, federal and state unemployment taxes, and all related tax returns.
- Manage garnishments, payroll related benefit payments to vendors, and 401k deposits.
- Request/review/update new SUI tax rates for each state for each year for each company code
- Assist in the Year End Process for the US payroll including annual federal, state, and local reconciliations and filings
- Provide ongoing assistance and support to users of the UKG payroll system. This includes trouble shooting and problem solving.
- Create payroll reports as required and balance expatriate figures to Finance/accounting (monthly)
- File and coordinate all returned W-2 copies for current year or past years and distribute upon request
- Assist with processing of Mexico semi-monthly payroll
- Perform/participate in various projects and other duties as assigned by the Payroll Team Leader and the Regional HR Services Manager.
BENEFIT ADMINISTRATION:
- Assist with managing and implementing employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness programs, and other fringe benefits
- Educate employees on available benefits, communicate changes, and facilitate open enrollment
- Prepare and submit required government reports, such as tax filings and benefits-related documentation
- Act as the champion in the use of UKG to streamline payroll and benefits processes
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy of payroll and benefits processes
Skills
- Expert knowledge of HR operations (payroll, hire-to-retire administration and data management).
- Thorough knowledge of common HRIS systems.
- Strong communication skills and full understanding of the payroll field.
- Broad experience in benefit scheme administration.
- Proven ability to motivate and lead a team to perform at their best.
Previous Experience
- Minimum 7 years’ experience processing full cycle multi-state payroll and administering company benefit programs.
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university; or five or more years of relevant experience.
- Ability to work independently, solve problems, accept responsibility for assigned duties and willingness to expand knowledge.
- Eager to grow with an HR operation and contribute with our team
- Experience with UltiPro/UKG software
- Possesses strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Program Suite (with advanced knowledge of Excel in particular) and being able to utilize these tools for heightened efficiency in their day-to-day work.
- Must be detail oriented with the ability to solve problems and maintain confidentiality
- Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate at all levels of management inside of the organization.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial reports and legal documents
Qualifications and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in HR or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
