About the role
- Accountable for the delivery of financial accounting, reporting and control activities.
- Accountable for tax (direct & indirect) & other regulatory authorities for all Spanish Bekaert entities
- Accountable for Legal Compliance of Spanish Bekaert entities.
- Responsible for adherence of Group accounting policies and control processes and ensuring support and guidance for the smooth completion of all deliverables to Corporate Finance, Corporate Tax and Corporate Legal
- Key partner for the internal and external audit teams.
Detailed Responsibilities
Country Financials:
- Ensure the accuracy of the country’s financial information covering profit & loss, balance sheet items, cash management, cashflow, overhead & Corporate expenses and other statutory or Group requirements, including budget and forecast information in relation to items below EBIT and Balance sheet items other than Capital Employed.
- Ensure on time delivery of information to all stakeholders e.g. Corporate, Group, BU (Business Finance), local management, statutory bodies, banks, local insurance, tax authorities…
- Sign-off legal entity reporting (actuals, forecast, budget) and the accuracy and completeness of the Balance Sheet account justifications
- Execute finance related activities for external audits in close collaboration with the Group internal Audit and Risk Management team
- Execute finance related activities for internal audits, Internal Control.
- Coordinate and be responsible for tax compliance – direct & indirect-, including enquiries and audits from tax authorities, in close collaboration with Group Tax
- Ensure adherence of all Company accounting policies & directives (Corporate GAAP), local GAAP and tax topics
- Ensure an adequate control environment exists to fully meet the local statutory acts as well as Corporate/Group requirements in relation to financial activities.
- Support the business in ensuring financials accurately reflect all known risks and opportunities.
Corporate Legal compliance:
- Ensure that the corporate housekeeping is done accurately and on time: Board and Shareholder meeting, statutory registers and minute books.
- Correct tracking of PoA.
About You
Essential skills & competences
- Degree in Management and Finance
- Qualified accountant with up to-date knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS, Spanish Local GAAP )
- 3-5 years post qualification experience, with a strong understanding of finance process, risks management and controls, Big4 experience valuable.
- Good knowledge of local tax, including special tax regimes, and tax accounting processes and requirements,
- Experience in identifying key finance risks, general ledger accounting, balance sheet controls,
- Strong process excellence, continuous improvement, and customer service mindset
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work well with deadlines and effectively handle multiple and concurrent demands,
- Experience within SAP environment and automation & digitalization would be a definite advantage.
- Fluent in English and Spanish native
