About the role

Bridon-Bekaert The Ropes Group (BBRG) is looking for an Applications Engineer (Hybrid Role) to join our Synthetics team in Coatbridge (Scotland).

Application Engineer will support Synthetic Rope Product Development and Commercial Projects by assisting business partners/customers on the installation, use, troubleshooting, and inspection of synthetic ropes, in field or laboratory scenarios. Also, develop expertise in existing and new applications by actively engaging with customers and partners.

Your Impact as Application Engineer:

• Provide expertise support to commercial segment teams, sales, and technology teams.
• Acting as a bridge between customers and the BBRG Technical team, facilitating effective communication.
• Actively contributes to the development and execution of BBRG's synthetics vision, acting as application specialist for product development.
• Assisting the Technical team in resolving technical issues for customers, both during and outside of projects.
• Provides specialised technical support to the projects team and advises clients and project leaders on technical deployment and installation.
• Be BBRG Synthetics “Qualified Person”, attending  field trials ,carrying out inspections on in use rope, during installation and production.
• Act as a go-to person for clients' technical queries, conducts inspections, maintains rope inspection reports, assists in creating product manuals for the full product life cycle, and is expected to engage in significant global travel (up to 30% of the time).

About You

Essential skills & competencies

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience, with a strong practical knowledge of textiles, cables, pipes, rope & rope applications, preferably synthetic fibre rope.
• Experience in a customer-facing engineering or design role, with the ability to transform new product requirements into well-defined design specifications and develop a clear methodology for validation and commercialisation.
• Proficient IT skills, including MS Office, MS Project, experience with engineering software CAD,modelling ,etc.
• Demonstrated passion for research or design, with a background in engineering or materials science within a product design or development environment, and a methodical approach to meeting application requirements.
• Familiarity with product qualification processes involving external bodies such as ABS, DNV, Lloyds, or BV.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a proven ability to write technical reports and deliver engaging presentations.
• Hands on, willing and able to work equally well in office, production and field enviroment, including offshore.
