An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Coatbridge and Grangemouth Sites as an Operations Manager. The purpose of this role is to Manage day to day operations to ensure that site quality, cost, delivery and safety targets are achieved.  Lead the factory team with strong focus on delivery, engagement and continuous improvement.

Principal accountabilities shall include but not be limited to:

  • Ensure overall adherence to Site and Group Quality Management Systems, policies and procedures to ensure internal / external customer expectations are met or exceeded. 
  • Responsible for budgetary control across operations functions. 
  • Lead and direct continuous improvement activity to ensure achievement of operational business objectives.
  • Support cultural change through knowledge, skills, capability and engagement to ensure group Safety, Health and Environmental objectives are effectively delivered and regulatory compliance is exceeded as a minimum.
  • Provide leadership for and development of direct reports, establishing measures, priorities, SMART objectives and accountability in line with Company strategy and KPI’s. Ensure cascade of PPM throughout operational management team.
  • Support OGSM deployment programme across operations. Hold regular reviews to ensure activity plans are delivered on time.
  • Ensure positive industrial relations and employee engagement, including support of pay negotiations and grievance resolution. Conduct disciplinary hearings or appeals. 
  • Take financial responsibility within the company financial controls.


Planning and Organising 

  • Ensure Coatbridge & Grangemouth operations are organized to support optimum efficiency and delivery performance
  • Ensure robust KPI’s are set and reported at factory and departmental level.
  • Working with regional SHE team to ensure safety & environmental legislative requirements are achieved as a minimum and standards raised.
  • Working with Finance & Central Logistics, participate in the development of annual plans & monthly / annual forecasts.
  • Compile appropriate and timely weekly and monthly reports.
  • Participate in and ensure shift, daily, weekly & monthly operational reviews.


Work closely with the Group & Regional H&S / Environmental Managers to ensure group objectives are effectively managed and communicated.


Work closely with Group and Site QA to ensure all functions comply with the company QMS and all other internal / external standards & policies. Ensure frequent appraisal of systems and processes exists and identified improvements are implemented.  


HR – Ensure compliance with current legislation & company procedures. Recruitment & developing/designing job descriptions, interviewing, selecting talented staff for critical positions. Performance Manage - Work closely with HR to develop objectives and performance reviews for Managers and subordinates. Define and drive training plans both personally & for subordinates.
