Purpose and Mission
- Responsible for overseeing safety, health, and environmental excellence within a specific geographic area.
- Focus is on effectively communicating corporate SHE goals and objectives.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
- Coordinate, develop, implement, and enforce SHE initiatives, ensuring adherence to global guidelines, best practices and regulatory standards.
- Assist in policy development and publication of safety or environmental education materials.
- Conduct safety inspections, identify root causes of accidents, and ensure corrective actions.
- Provide health and safety expertise, to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and applicable safety standards to include ANSI and NFPA codes and regulations.
- Perform periodic safety and compliance audits, for facilities within the region and oversee action plans that arise from them.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and contractors.
- Work closely with site managers, cross-functional teams, and external agencies.
- Monitor safety KPIs, track trends, and implement corrective measures.
- Develop and test emergency response plans for various scenarios.
Skills
- Proficiency in safety protocols, hazard identification, ISO standards, best practices and risk management.
- Clear and effective communication skills to engage individuals and groups at the shop floor level.
- Ability to build trust, respect, and cooperation among employees, ability to inspire and guide teams toward safety goals.
- Comfortable interacting with management, production staff, customers, and regulatory agencies.
- Proficiency in developing and conducting training programs.
- Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 General Industry Standards and general knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Standards. Familiarity with NFPA regulations and ANSI standards.
Previous Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in SHE management preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with environmental permits, licenses, and monitoring requirements.
- Experience in incident reporting, data analysis, and contractor safety oversight.
Qualifications and Education
- Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Environmental Science, Occupational Health)
- Professional certification required.
