We, at Bridon-Bekaert Ropes Group (BBRG), seek a dynamic and resourceful engineer to join our team dedicated to pioneering new solutions for rope monitoring sensors across challenging industrial landscapes.

 

This role promises variety and requires a high level of self-motivation. You'll delve into understanding complex problems, proposing innovative solutions, and steering them through design, prototyping, testing, and validation stages. Ultimately, you'll contribute to delivering solutions not only to BBRG customers but also to our esteemed in-house rope testing facility. This is an engaging role that transcends the confines of a typical desk job!

Responsibilities

As a Sensor Engineer you will

  • Research and evaluate relevant sensing technologies for industrial rope products and in general for lifting market.
  • Perform electronic design and assembly.
  • Analyze data using Python or similar language.
  • Apply measurement principles, data validation, and signal/image analysis.
  • Utilize Embedded C/Micropython and undertake microcontroller programming.
  • Design sensor integration methods for mechanical components and rope systems.
  • Collaborate on research programs with the Senior Sensor & Instrumentation Engineer.
  • Develop electro-mechanical sensors and instrumentation.
  • Project manage development projects, test product prototypes, create test plans, and present findings.
  • Participate in R&D and innovation processes.
  • Participate in customer interactions and value mapping exercises to determine problem – solution FIT and technologies required.
  • Assess new technology feasibility with third parties and collaborate with sensor suppliers for custom solutions.
  • Manage project documentation and testing plans.
  • Perform additional duties as needed based on project requirements

About You

Essential skills & competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics or related field.
  • Lifting Industry certifications (nice to have)
  • Experience in designing proof of concept (PoC) acquisition systems using Python / MATLAB and microcontrollers
  • Sensor data analysis.
  • Experience with custom-built firmware and hardware.
  • Experience in Windows and Linux OS.
  • Hands on electronics skills such as PCB manufacture / soldering etc.
  • Experience with CAD software ex. Fusion 360.
  • Proficient knowledge of sensors and IoT architecture.
  • knowledge of machine learning and AI is a plus.
  • Understanding of computing principles, hardware, data formats and security.
  • Effective written and verbal communication in English (additional languages are a plus ex. Italian).
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
