Flintstone Technology is a dynamic engineering company based in Dundee, Scotland, specializing in the design and manufacture of innovative permanent mooring solutions for the global energy sector. Since its founding in 2012, Flintstone has built a reputation for delivering high-performance solutions including hull and seabed connectors and tensioning systems. I. Purpose of the Role
To determine the selection of materials including castings, forgings and fabrications, their specification, requirements for welding, non-destructive testing and coatings during design and manufacturing processes.
II. Roles and Responsibilities
• Material selection to meet FTL, customer, client and regulatory body requirements – working with the FTL design team to ensure fit for purpose and most economical solution.
• Writing of specifications for materials including castings, forgings and welded fabrications
• Writing of specifications for welding, non-destructive testing, dimensional control, coatings.
• Supplier audits – technical
• Visiting suppliers during manufacturing
• Selection of suitable inspectors
• Liaising with customers, clients and regulatory bodies such as classification societies and national regulators
III. Skills & Competencies
• A minimum of ten years in a senior position in a similar role
• Strong knowledge of materials used in offshore marine environment
• A very broad experience of manufacturing involving high strength cast, forged and fabricated structures
• Excellent written and presentation skills
• Highly competent in use of Word and Excel.
• Degree in materials would be useful but not essential
