Purpose and Mission

As Health & Safety Manager, you are responsible for translating local, European and corporate health and safety requirements into clear internal rules and practices. You create the framework for safe and responsible operations across all sites and actively promote a strong safety culture within the organisation.

You work closely with internal and external stakeholders to support daily operational safety, incident follow-up, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement. In this role, you also act as Prevention Advisor level 2, providing advice to both the employer and employees.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Provide advice on prevention, well-being and safety policy in line with legal requirements
  • Carry out the tasks defined in the internal prevention service identification document
  • Actively participate in the CPBW and provide the secretariat for CPBW and other safety meetings
  • Manage Health & Safety risk assessments across the sites
  • Define and follow up on preventive and corrective actions to reduce identified risks
  • Investigate incidents, unsafe situations and cases of non-compliance, and ensure appropriate follow-up
  • Maintain an up-to-date register of incidents, inspections, actions and related follow-up
  • Ensure that Health & Safety risks are managed in line with legal, corporate and site requirements
  • Develop and maintain emergency plans
  • Manage the site Health & Safety programme in line with legal, corporate and Bekaert requirements
  • Support effective Health & Safety system management and continuous improvement on site
  • Ensure the Health & Safety standards, procedures and best practices are implemented across the site
  • Evaluate Health & Safety compliance and follow up on identified improvement actions
  • Strengthen the Health & Safety culture through BeCare and line management engagement
  • Organise and follow up on internal and external Health & Safety audits
  • Monitor legislation through appropriate channels and external services
  • Assess the current situation/operations against applicable legislation and identify deviations
  • Maintain an overview of technical inspections and maintenance work to be carried out on installations and equipment
  • Prepare and submit Health & Safety reports to regulatory agencies and company management.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date Health & Safety records.
  • Track and report on Health & Safety performance metrics.
  • Develop and facilitate Health & Safety communication and training on site
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align on Health & Safety priorities and initiatives
  • Represent the company in relevant Health & Safety meetings, forums and audits
  •  

About You

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Occupational Health, Safety Engineering, operations management)
  • Professional certification required: Prevention Advisor level 2
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in SHE management roles, preferably in an industrial or
    manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, ISO standards and best practices.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience in production processes and knowledge of machinery directives is an advantage
  • Experience as an internal auditor is an advantage
  • Proactive and hands-on
  • Able to apply problem-solving thinking
  • Proficiency in safety protocols and risk management.
  • Ability to guide teams towards safety goals.
  • Communicative & inspiring
  • Languages: Dutch & English
