About the role

Your Impact as Operations Trainer - Hanover, PA:

The Operations Trainer position is responsible for improving product quality and operator productivity by facilitating development and administration of training for our Operations Personnel.  To fulfil these responsibilities, the trainer is empowered to coordinate training efforts, develop and administer training materials and appropriate methods to assess understanding of materials following trainings, and judge the overall effectiveness of the trainings by observing work being completed.  They will maintain coordination between the various departments including team leads and department managers. The person is this role will be expected to do the following:

 

  • Maintain and coordinate training plans for the various blue-collar positions and make sure it is being followed.
  • Develop and administer training plans for new tasks or positions.
  • Work with employees per specific work-center training requirements to facilitate learning and growth within specified curriculums. 
  • Coordinate the documentation and tracking of completed trainings.
  • Conduct needs analysis in partnership with Human Resources and Production Managers to identify skills/competency gaps and report results to Management.
  • Develop and maintain the training matrix. Ensure that Training Matrix is accurate and kept up to date.
  • Follow up with assigned on-the-job trainers as well as Team Leads and/or Managers to ensure that training is being performed per prescribed plan.
  • Follow up to ensure that training is being documented properly.
  • Modify and update training materials and Job Descriptions to make sure they are valid and accurate.
  • Conduct visual observation of trainees on the job to make sure that Trainees exhibit valid understanding and competency on performing tasks/activities.
  • Assemble materials and use tools such as Smart Builder to assess that trainee has knowledge and understanding of materials that they have been trained on.
  • Identify and make recommendations for training needs and/or materials.
  • Develop written and/or video SOP’s, coordinating and prioritizing the development with the guidance of Operations and Human Resources personnel.​​​​​​​

 

About You

Essential skills & competencies

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience. Such experience typified through knowledge of the wire drawing industry, steel cord process, statistical analysis and design of experiments. 
  • A working knowledge the operations of and understanding the needs of customers is also required.
  • Experience in manufacturing. Custom made to order manufacturing preferred.
  • Have experience coaching or mentoring of individuals
  • Ability to travel, valid drivers license, reliable transportation
  • Must have experience working with Microsoft Office, and other software programs.
