About the role

 

Within the North America Credit Management team, we are currently looking for a Credit Assistant.
In this role, you will report to the regional Credit Manager NAM and will work closely together with regional sales and our shared service team managing accounts receivables.

  • You will act as a valued business partner that pro-actively supports the business in creating value and sustainable growth while safeguarding the trade receivable risk and working capital interests of your region via best-in-class credit management
  • You will safeguard full compliance of credit accounts with the regional and global credit management policies
  • You will support the master data set-up of new customers
  • You will request insured credit limits and collect information for internal credit limit assessments
  • You will investigate and release blocked orders and deliveries
  • You will support sales with reconciliation, aging, and payment behavior information of customer accounts
  • You will support sales with payment differences and EDI issues as needed
  • You will work closely together with the shared services team on cash application and answer any questions regarding unmatched payments and other concerns
  • You will ensure correct and timely collections and correspond with customers on payments of overdue.
  • You will offer supporting documentation to the credit manager for decisions about the continued credit worthiness of individual customers
  • You will initiate (insurance) claims and follow-up on claims status
  • You will work to gather any information regarding accounts that may need to be sent to the legal team for collections internally or externally
  • You will co-drive credit risk awareness throughout your region
  • You will support with special projects as needed

 

Essentials skills & competencies

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics or a similar field, or 2 years minimum of relevant experience
  • Previous work experience as a credit controller or with collections and basic accounting is a plus
  • Proficient in accounting with good analytic skills
  • Advanced excel skills and experience with SAP or similar ERP systems
  • Good understanding of credit management, customer accounts, payment plans, tax, and EDI and/or willing to learn basic skills related to credit management in those domains
  • Ability to reconcile complex debtor’s accounts
  • Strong communication skills, business acumen, and persuasiveness to co-drive credit management performance
  • Good organizational skills with ability to deal with stressful situation and changing priorities without losing focus
