POSITION DESCRIPTION:

 

The Market Manager is a key role in Bekaert North America, responsible for driving one or more of the company’s strategic growth efforts. Currently we are seeking candidates with extensive experience in the Energy/Power/Utilities industries.

The Market Manager will have responsibility for driving the overall strategic vision for the assigned market segment(s), interfacing across functions to lead business initiatives to maximize market penetration that will result in sustained profitable growth. The position will report to the Segment Leader for the respective business unit.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide strong leadership to the North American team for assigned segment(s).
  • Define, articulate, and lead execution of strategy for assigned segment(s).
  • Develop a deeper market understanding of the defined segment(s) through market and customer research. Monitor and publish competitive market intelligence.
  • Engage with the industry/customers throughout the value chain and identify trends and unmet needs.
  • Clearly articulate and present market, customer needs and solution requirements
  • Manage product roadmap and drive new product development and/or partnership opportunities through market justified business plans
  • Launch new products, gain early market acceptance, and accelerate penetration.
  • Identify, generate, and capture more value from existing products in our lines.
  • Identify gaps in our current capabilities and develop action plans to address them.
  • Collaborate with sales, operations, and marketing communications to determine go-to-market plan and execute.
  • Review and evaluate the segment performance on a continuing basis and establish the proper measures of performance; collaborate with sales managers to modify work plans or implement contingency plans in accordance with prevailing business conditions and emerging needs.
  • Assist in supporting relationships with key accounts, customers, and vendors as necessary in the overall management of the segment.
  • Engage in segment thought leadership activities such as plenary and workshop presentations, sitting on industry panels, researching, and writing white papers, blogs and other published position pieces and participation in industry and trade associations.

 

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or engineering. MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience. Strong knowledge of the industrial wire market is a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of Energy/Power/Utilities industries is required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 20-30%.
  • Polished, results-oriented leader.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Commercial development acumen including value chain analysis, customer needs analysis, definition of value proposition, market positioning, and financial analysis
  • Highly competent in developing and implementing strategies
  • Strong project management capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix organization and team environment.
