To strengthen our Building Products (Construction Reinforcement) Business Unit we are looking for a:

 

Technical Precast Design Manager

 

As Technical Precast Design Manager you will be responsible for designing Dramix® (steel fiber reinforcement) into solutions for prefabricated concrete industry.
You are responsible for maximizing precast customer engagement and sales via your design skills and precast expertise as well as pushing for increased acceptance for Dramix® in relevant norms. 
 
Your role

  • You design optimal precast solutions with Dramix® reinforcement for precasters with a clear understanding of what drives value for all stakeholders.
  • You build up a strong internal network with our precast experts and jointly develop a portfolio of big and medium precast producers of structural non-structural concrete elements. 
  • You articulate solutions and demonstrate the realized value with customer compatible designs. You support the prospect efforts by convincing third party stakeholders, customers and end-customers of the solution and ensure support of the precast sales team during their key customer meetings.
  • Your understanding of reinforced concrete design, norms and standards, construction methods, and building materials allows you to talk the same language as your customers and your stakeholders.
  • You have experience with 3D software as well as with intelligent software assistants that import architectural plans, structural design and technical building technology without any loss of quality and understand the importance of compatible designs that fit into the precasters’ way or working.
  • Through a clear understanding of the business of your customers, you are able to identify opportunities for precasters while visiting their plants and, thanks to your strong project consultancy and advisory skills, you are able to create value for our customers and the entire chain. 
  • You identify and  cultivate design/software partners for the development of Dramix steel fibers in the concrete precast market.
  • You develop and strengthen our Bekaert precast design toolbox (e.g. software add-ins).
  • You are active in the norms network in the selected focus areas and work to increase awareness and acceptance of Dramix® based solution.
  • You work together with the European team, you work with a high degree of autonomy, and flexibility supported by and supporting the area sales manager. 
  • As member of the European team, you are willing to travel (approx. 50%) within the area.
  • You will report to the Construction Technology and Solutions Manager.

 

Your profile

  • You are a civil engineer with 3-5 years’ experience, preferably at a precast manufacturer or a reinforcement design agency serving precasters.
  • You have strong 3D modelling software skills – practical work experience is advantage.
  • You are familiar/specialized with/in steel fiber reinforced concrete (as part of your studies or your work experience). 
  • You have precast concrete/construction experience. 
  • Full professional fluency in English. Spanish preferred as an additional language.
  • You are a designer/engineer who enjoys an entrepreneurial way of teamwork - where you have the ambition to create long-term success in a complex environment.
  • Technical orientation, and an interest and motivation to keep up to date and push a change with technical material in connection with manufacturing, building materials, design possibilities and construction methods.
  • Strong technical, educational and communication skills, based on listening, inquiry, plant visits and analysis.
  • You have strong networking skills and are able to influence key stakeholders and thereby increase norms and regulations awareness for SFRC – as well as understand the latest trends from customers and your internal partners.
  • You have an open mind-set and are eager to learn and develop. You act with integrity, and are capable to build deep and long-term relations with customers. You are result oriented and have a passion to win.
