Purpose and Mission

The mission of the Health, Safety & Environmental Engineer is to ensure continuous compliance with applicable environmental and occupational health & safety legislation, prevent environmental pollution and workplace incidents, and support management in controlling legal, operational, and financial risks related to HSE. This is achieved through the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of environmental and occupational health & safety management practices.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental and occupational health & safety legislation, standards, internal policies, and company procedures.
  • Monitor legislative updates and inform management about new obligations, risks, and required actions.
  • Manage environmental documentation, permits, authorizations, registers, and statutory reporting (e.g. waste, AFM, REACH, RoHS, conflict minerals).
  • Coordinate waste management activities, including waste identification, classification, selective collection, traceability, reporting, and contractor management.
  • Manage chemical substances and hazardous materials, including inventories, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), labeling, and employee information.
  • Deliver and document employee training in environmental protection, waste management, hazardous substances, pollution prevention, and emergency situations.
  • Coordinate occupational health & safety activities, including worker instruction, PPE management, first aid equipment monitoring, and incident/accident investigations.
  • Act as company representative towards authorities (ITM, APM, DSP, etc.), support audits and inspections, manage incidents, and promote a strong safety culture through awareness campaigns and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills

  • University degree in a technical field, preferably Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in a similar HSE / Environmental / OHS role.
  • Mandatory certification as Environmental Responsible Person and Waste Management Specialist.
  • Additional training in OHS (minimum 80 hours) and ISO standards (ISO 14001, ISO 9001, ISO 45001) are considered an advantage.
  • Solid knowledge of environmental and occupational health & safety legislation and compliance processes.
  • Good computer skills (MS Office) and the ability to prepare reports and maintain accurate records.
  • Intermediate level of English (written and spoken).
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, good communication and training abilities, high level of integrity, autonomy, and organizational skills.
