About the role
The Industrial Engineer supports Bekaert Orrville by applying engineering techniques to design, develop, test, and evaluate industrial production processes including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis and production coordination.
Your Impact as Industrial Engineer
- Develops labor standards by analyzing work samples and methods, measuring work performance.
- Improves labor utilization by studying work methods, testing modifications, designing new methods, and recommending job restructuring.
- Utilizes data collected to create and/or modify existing workload models.
- Maintains close coordination with the Production Departments on standards through process improvements. This individual will monitor and coordinate, with Production, special trials to promote process improvements. Is also required to have effective open communications with Production Team Leaders and Managers regarding process parameters, quality results, and manufacturing problems. Will keep the plant informed of results through daily meetings and various communications and reports.
- Facilitates consistent cross-functional process improvement meetings; sponsoring employee engagement, soliciting feedback, and acquiring buy-in through employee participation.
- Improves workflow by studying process flow charts; recommending modifications in workflow, workstations, and product; developing new procedures; recommending equipment modifications and purchases.
- Reduces waste by studying methods, equipment, and operator techniques, recommending changes’ identifying and analyzing waste.
- Implements work improvement programs by conferring with management and engineering staff.
- Prepares work-analysis information and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Completes work improvement projects by training and guiding operators and supervisors.
- Maintains operations guidelines by writing and updating policies, procedures, and methods.
- Responsible for observing and validating how products are made through Layered Process Audits (LPAs)
- Maintain accurate and organized records and reports.
About You
Essential skills & competences
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related Engineering field plus minimum of 2 years’ experience in Industrial Engineering required.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Manufacturing setting; preferably in the steel industry.
- Must have strong technological experience with computer-assisted design software. Working with SAP, Microsoft Office, and other software programs is strongly preferred.
- Must have strong teamwork and interpersonal communication skills
