Purpose and Mission
Reporting to the Head of Ethics and Compliance, the Compliance Manager will support the implementation and oversight of Bekaert’s global Ethics and Compliance program across designated Business Units. The role combines program management responsibilities across core compliance risk domains (ABC, COI, Antitrust, Sanctions) with oversight over the company’s global privacy framework.
The role requires a compliance professional capable of independently managing multiple compliance programs, effectively prioritizing and managing several concurrent initiatives, operating effectively across geographies and functions, and providing practical compliance guidance to senior business stakeholders.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
Global Ethics and Compliance Program Implementation
- Support implementation and continuous improvement of Bekaert’s global Ethics and Compliance program across assigned BU’s.
- Partner with the Regional legal team to assure consistent application and implementation of the Ethics and Compliance program
- Act as a trusted compliance advisor to business leaders and corporate functions on applicable regulations and internal policies owned by the Ethics and Compliance team, including anti bribery and corruption, conflicts of interest, antitrust, trade sanctions and other regulatory requirements
- Support the development and implementation of appropriate compliance controls and procedures
- Support compliance risk assessments and monitoring activities
- Support implementation of remedial measures to address risk, control failures and compliance concerns
Investigations
- Promote the use of the company’s integrity reporting channels (Speak Up)
- Lead and coordinate internal investigations in accordance with Bekaert’s Investigation Protocol
- Advise leadership on consequence management
- Coordinate with relevant internal stakeholders to implement remedial measures
Privacy Program Oversight
- Own the operational execution of Bekaert’s global privacy program (Registers of Processing Activities, Data Privacy Impact
- Assessments, Data Processing Agreements with key suppliers, etc.)
- Provide guidance to business and functional teams on privacy compliance matters
- Respond to Data Subject Rights requests (access, deletion, …) and coordinate Data Breach Response procedure
- Monitor compliance with the internal Bekaert Data Transfer Agreement
- Monitor regulatory developments globally
- Coordinate privacy governance activities including policy implementation, training, and awareness initiatives
- Lead the Data Regulation Compliance Committee on a quarterly basis
- Monitor privacy risk exposure and support remediation initiatives where required
- Collaborate with legal, IT and business stakeholders to ensure effective integration of privacy controls within business processes
Third Party Compliance and Due Diligence Program
- Oversee compliance related due diligence onboarding processes for third party intermediaries including agents, distributors, consultants and joint venture partners
- Support the annual Third Party Monitoring process
- Support business stakeholders in managing third party compliance risks throughout the lifecycle of the relationship
Compliance Training and Awareness Program
- Coordinate the design and delivery of compliance eLearning initiatives across the organization
- Collaborate with HR learning, to monitor training completion and effectiveness metrics and drive continuous improvement of compliance learning initiatives
Profile & Qualifications
- The position requires an experienced compliance professional capable of managing multiple compliance initiatives within a complex international business environment.
- The successful candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with practical judgment and the ability to operate independently.
- Minimum of 7 years experience in corporate compliance, legal, risk management or internal audit roles within an international organization
- Demonstrated experience managing compliance programs across multiple regulatory domains such as anti bribery and corruption, antitrust, sanctions, conflicts of interest and data privacy
- Proven experience managing privacy or data protection frameworks within a multinational organization
- Strong understanding of international compliance regulations and best practices
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex projects and deliver across multiple competing priorities
