TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Planning:
Implement EHS plans as developed in conjunction with Head, EHS, Corporate & Global EHS Head. Review and
recommend changes & improvements.
Prepare the EHS training needs matrix for all on site departments and implement EHS training plans.
Ensure operations within the approved budget.

 

Policy formulations:
Formulate (in conjunction with Lead, Training & development) training programs for maintaining the professional.
competence of EHS personnel and other employees whose activities affect the EHS.
Direct the establishment and review EHS standards for site through interface with outside agencies and internal stake
holders, MD & Corporate teams.
Ensure adherence of all processes & assets to quality health, environment & safety norms.
Ensure adherence of all new projects on site to quality health, environment & safety norms.

 

Liaisoning:
Ensure statutory compliance to Factories act, and other acts by Periodic Audits. Liaison with Statutory Authorities like
the Factory Inspectorate.

 

Project implantation:
Ensure adherence of all processes & assets to quality health, environment & safety norms.
Participate in implementation of new projects on site and ensure adherence to health, environment & safety norms.

 

Environment:
Design, implement, operate and sustain Environmental Management systems. Monitoring and meeting the emission and
discharge limits of air and water.
Design, erect and commission Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP). Responsible for onsite ETP and ETP laboratory
Conduct training programs for maintaining the professional competence of EHS personnel and other employees whose
activities affect the EHS.
Ensure proper waste control practices & hazardous waste management.

 

Health:
Prepare industrial hygiene inventory and update information. Work place & personal exposure monitoring.
Responsible for Health centers on site. Monitor employee medical examination and occupational hygiene.
In Charge of on site medical facilities. Ensure availability of antidotes for chemicals handled at site.

 

Safety:
Risk analysis and assessment (Critical process/general site activities) involving risk litigation and transfer action plan.
Conduct HAZOPs. Create SOPs for hazardous chemicals.
Preparation of on-site emergency plans and conducing emergency drills.
Conduct project safety review and contractor safety Programs.
Maintenance and upkeep of Fire & Safety equipments /systems.

 

Miscellaneous:
Conduct on site EHS audits
Direct and coordinate the resolution of EHS problems at location level. Escalate when suitable.
Coordinate EHS programs with other divisions and corporate management.
Ensure availability of qualified personnel and facilities as per requirements.

 

Knowledge management & capability building:
Documentation of all activities & updation of all records.
Keep aware of latest changes and updates in statutory requirements.
Identify, highlight & share deviations from standards: Accident/incident investigation and critical incidents analysis and
remedy implementation for loss prevention and to ensure non-recurrence.
Recognize & share good EHS practices of own site with others.
