About the role

Your Impact as  Your Impact as Regional Custom and Logistics anchor

Department -Purchase (Customs & Logistics)

Executive Customs is responsible for managing and overseeing the customs operations, ensuring compliance with all customs regulations, facilitating smooth import and export processes, and liaising with customs authorities. The role involves strategic planning, risk management, and optimization of customs procedures to support the organization's logistics and supply chain operations.

Broad Task mainly includes as per below (but not exhaustive)

Managing the customs and Logistics activities

  • Export / Import shipments custom clearance along with documents management.
  • Issuance of Certificate of origin for export shipments
  • Liaising with DGFT
  • Domestic transportation and logistics operation
  • Other customs related activities

Maximization of Export benefits from Foreign Trade Policy

  • Export Incentive – as per current custom policies.
  • Advance License
  • EPCG / AMNESTY

II. ROLE DESCRIPTION

Customs Compliance:

  • Advanced authorization
  • MEIS (Merchandize Exports from India Schemes)
  • Duty Drawback and other Export benefits
  • Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) related activities, viz. Registration of Advanced Licenses, compliance, any Customs and DGFT related issues.
  • Liaise with DRI (Directorate of Revenue Intelligence) and apply diligence.
  • Ensure compliance with all customs regulations and laws.
  • Stay updated on changes in customs regulations and implement necessary changes in processes.
  • Prepare and submit necessary documentation for customs clearance.

 

Customs Operations:

  • Oversee and manage the customs clearance process for imports and exports.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers and agents to ensure timely clearance of goods.
  • Handle any issues or discrepancies related to customs documentation and procedures.

 

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks in customs operations and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Conduct regular audits of customs processes to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage and resolve any customs-related disputes or issues.
  • Apply due diligence before imports or exports of Engineering and Hazardous material/Goods or any other material, secondhand machinery during the course of business.
  • Use expertise regarding BIS related matters during Import and exports, viz. import of Steel, Motors, electronic and mechanical parts also handling of BIS queries.
  • Risk mitigation from Customs, DRI and BIS standpoint in proactive manner.

Relationship Management:

  • Liaise with customs authorities and government agencies to facilitate smooth customs operations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customs brokers, freight forwarders, and regulatory bodies.
  • Represent the organization in discussions with customs authorities and industry forums.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders like Legal, Finance, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Bekaert Technical Center and across business units towards imports and exports.

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize customs procedures and reduce costs.
  • Analyze data and trends to identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align customs operations with overall business objectives.

Training and Development:

  • Train and mentor staff on customs regulations and procedures.
  • Ensure the customs team is knowledgeable and up to date on current regulations and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of compliance and continuous improvement within the customs team.

Others related to Audit sport / Inter-department co-operation / monthly accruals

  • Monthly accrual entry to Vendor on export incentive / other custom related accruals.
  • Audit Support on Customs / Licenses etc.
  • Following up with internal team members to submit export documents and update export master sheet.
  • Periodic renewal of factory stuffing permission
  • Yearly Renewal of RCMC certificate.
  • Internal communication regarding any changes in FTP and customs procedure.
  • Amendment in Export and Import code (IEC) whenever required.
  • Submission of bills of vendor with correct Pos to Vendor

Qualifications & Experience:
Qualification & Experience -

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in customs operations, compliance, or a related role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, International Trade, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in customs or international trade (e.g., Certified Customs Specialist).
  • Experience in the logistics or manufacturing industry – MNC Preferred

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Strong knowledge of Indian customs regulations and procedures.
  • Experience in dealing with customs authorities and regulatory bodies.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
