Job Location - Ranjangaon Technology Center (Pune)


Working - 5 days (Hybrid working)

Purpose of the Job - 

  • Manage and lead materials lab and thereby contribute to the development of competency/expertise of the team to support in:
  • R&D projects in product, application and process domains.
  • Technical assistance to business units: customer complaints, process issues
  • Coach materials lab team members, set targets and evaluate their performance 
  • Participate in more complex sub-projects in own technological area and contribute technically to other project teams
  • Implement appropriate safety & quality systems in the material lab
  • Steer technical projects within the labs related to own domains

Support towards R&D projects 

 

 

Quality representative for BITC labs.

 

Lab Management:

  • Develop the scorecard and targets for the team and individual members
  • Ensure that the basic hygiene in safety and 5S is top notch
  • Manage the daily materials lab operations to ensure quality of analysis, delivery timing of reports and learning from problem challenges is optimal.
  • Provide technical support for problem solving and interpretation of results to lab customers by working closely with the lab analysts.
  • Work closely with other technical & project teams to support and provide qualitative service.
  • Provide lab operations reports and reasoning on the lab performance on a monthly basis.
  • Propose investments for lab equipment on X+1 & X+5 basis with clear view of their purpose, costs & benefits.
  • Develop contingency plans for all tests through the use of sister R&D labs and local ones.

 

People development:

  • Build the competency in the respective domain of team members and take ownership of maintaining the competency matrix tool.
  • Ensure resources are optimal for the workload and provide continual training programs as necessary on the team members.
  • Challenge and drive the team members to continuously improve the quality and delivery of their reports to lab customers.

 

R&D Projects and problem solving support:

  • Inspire and develop open collaboration on projects with other teams in product, application and process technology.
  • Coordinate R&D projects with universities as needed.
  • Provide technical support to business units on complex problem solving.

 

Quality Management systems implementation and development

  • Implement QMS within BITC and continuously update as necessary
  • Lead BITC material labs for preparation regarding internal and external audits on a regular basis.

Skills & Competencies -

 

Must Have

  • Masters degree in Metallurgy/Materials Science engineering
  • Excellent logical and analytical skills
  • Well versed in the English language: written and spoken.
  • Good communication skills
  • Good team spirit, a strong sense of responsibility and be able to work independently.
  • Experience in product development or process development is a plus

 

Prefer to have

  • Experience in management of labs and people (engineers, technicians)
  • Expertise in using scanning electron microscopy, optical and stereo microscopy
  • Experience in steel industry
  • Experience in statistical tools and minitab
