MAIN DOMAINS OF RESULTS

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES / WAY OF REPORTING

1. Screening of the supply market in India for engineering materials and products based on the needs of the local production facilities (spare parts) and needs from the Engineering organization worldwide (machine construction).
  • Pro-active screening of the supply market for drawing parts in the first place.  Later on also for commercial parts
  • Is able to translate the questions of the designers/production people in a technical, understandable way towards the suppliers
  • Takes the lead in technical, logistical and commercial discussions with the local suppliers
  • Knows the final application of the product and brings added value by proposing technical solutions with the mindset of “total cost of ownership”

 

2. Analysis and evaluation of the quoted materials and products and strategic supplier selection in cooperation with the technical requestor
  • Evaluates whether the potential supplier can deliver the performance (quality, logistics, price, support, …) to become a preferred supplier for Bekaert
  • Makes a first evaluation of received samples
  • Prepares the supplier evaluation + decision matrix
  • Makes strategic choices of materials, products and suppliers in close cooperation with the designers/production people (requestors)
  • Prepares the purchasing contract with the selected supplier
  • Communicates the material, product and supplier selection within the purchasing organization of Bekaert Engineering
  • Reporting : savings report

3. Maintain operational relationships with the existing suppliers in India : for local and overseas orders/contracts
  • takes the lead in technical discussions with suppliers
  • negotiates with the suppliers about commercial terms and conditions (product, price, quantity, delivery time …)
  • handles logistic & quality claims
  • does the follow-up of problem orders (quality, delivery time, …)
  • evaluates the supplier on price, delivery reliability, quality, … and defines together with the suppliers the necessary actions to improve the future performance
  • reporting : supplier evaluation

4. Communication of the acquired knowledge of the local supply market within the organization
  • Summarizes the acquired knowledge of the supply market in a structured way
  • Communicates this knowledge within the Engineering organization
  • Makes sourcing and technical proposals towards the designers, production people and purchasers
  • Reporting : to be defined
