About the role

Your Impact as Technical Manager Asia South & Middle East

I. PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

India and the Middle East represent two dynamic regions experiencing rapid growth. While both share ambitious construction goals, their unique contexts and challenges set them apart. Let’s delve into the specifics:

  1. Middle East: Pioneering Large-Scale Projects
    • Saudi Arabia, at the forefront of Middle Eastern development, is strategically investing in substantial construction ventures. These investments stem from a forward-thinking approach, preparing the region for a post-fossil fuel era.
    • The Middle East faces harsher ambient conditions compared to Europe. Extreme temperatures, arid climates, and sandstorms necessitate robust infrastructure solutions.
  2. India: Navigating Population and Infrastructure Demands
    • With its vast population, India must channel significant investments into critical infrastructure. Roads, bridges, tunnels, and industrial facilities are essential for sustainable growth.
    • Tailoring solutions to local needs is crucial. India’s diverse living standards and unique challenges require customized approaches.
  3. Safety and Quality: Universal Imperatives
    • Regardless of location, adherence to safety and quality standards is paramount. A high-level technical manager plays a pivotal role in achieving this.
    • The technical manager must:
      • Develop region-specific applications or adapt existing ones to meet local requirements.
      • Collaborate closely with the central product development team.
      • Explore opportunities for tailored products aligned with regional demands.
      • Support sales teams in navigating complex designs and engaging key stakeholders.
  4. Nationality Preference and Deployment Strategy
    • Ideally, the candidate should be of Indian nationality to understand local nuances.
    • Initially, the focus lies on the Middle East, with India receiving remote support. After a few years, this arrangement may reverse.

II. ROLE DESCRIPTION
 

1. Progress R&D projects

  • define requirements with stakeholders
  • define tests and develop prototypes
  • analyze test results
  • follow up & communication with stakeholders

 

2. Progress application developments

  • define requirements of the application
  • theoretical design work to develop our solution
  • fine-tune the value proposition of our solution to the customers.
  • if necessary, conduct verifying test work
  • explain & develop training on our application solution for both customers & our own sales.

3. Technical support to sales & central product management, collect technical knowledge

  • Answer technical questions from the market
  • Develop technical aspect of (tech-)commercial documents.
  • Collect technical knowledge from different markets and leverage to solve & assist with technical problems in particular market.

 

4. Standardization

  • Defend Bekaert interest in local norms and recommendations.
  • Network opportunity with technical experts, academics & industry players
  • Apply the relevant codes and standards in our proprietary software

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Civil Engineering degree with preferable Post Graduation in Structural Engineering or Civil Enginnering.
  • Experience Required - Min 5 years - 15 years
  • Specialized in structural design.
  • Concrete expertise
  • Good knowledge of finite element software (SAP2000, SCIA Engineer, ABAQUS,…)
  • Team work (soft skills)
  • Structured & organized way of working with basic knowledge of project management.
  • Human & networking skills (normalization committees & customers)
