I. Purpose of the Role

To perform all the routine metallography testing of the Wire Rod, ISC
To perform all testing associated with ISC line such as Mechanical, Chemical & Bath Testing.
To do the Wire Fracture Analysis and find out the cause of the fracture and prepare the final report.

II. Roles and Responsibilities

Testing:
1 To do the metallurgical analysis of Wire Rod, ISC & Filaments
2 Testing of incoming Wire Rod and making of a report with the defined methods of rating and advising the production team about possible difficulties in using it.
3 To do an analysis of fracture samples and give suggestions to production through the report. By this, the issue can be resolved, or they can make some improvements in a subsequent operation.
4 Coordinate the third-party testing as per the sampling plan.
5 To visit the wire rod supplier (on-site) to do metallography testing.
6 Maintain heat-wise test results data.
7 Maintain sufficient stock of consumables and cost savings by finding suitable alternatives for high-cost consumables.

Handling of the instruments in the Mechanical Lab:
Skillful and proper handling of the following instruments in the mechanical lab to test the samples for different parameters.
1 Instron 
2 Micrometer (Digital and Laser)
3 Profile projector or Image dimension analysis (Keyence)
4 Stereoscope.
5 wire rod straightener

Handling of the instruments in the Metallography lab:
Knowledge and careful handling of the following instruments in the Metallography lab
1 Optical Microscope
2 System Grinder
3 Mounting Press 
4 Different polishing machines
5 Stereoscope

Calibration & MSA:
1 Do the calibrations of some of the equipment in the lab as instructed by seniors. Follow up with the external lab.
2 Perform MSA as per plan & maintain the record.

Audit & QMS:
1 Make preparation for IATF 16949/2016 audit.
2 Maintain training and evaluation log and other necessary documents.
3 Provide CAPA on audit findings.
4 Prepare SOP wherever needed and document them.

Safety, Quality, Delivery, Commitment, Morale (SQDCM):
1 General safety awareness & importance of personal protective equipment.
2 Awareness of occupational health, industrial hygiene & environment management
3 Has an attitude of being quality-conscious at all times & maintain quality standards
4 He should be able to understand what work has a high priority and always attends to this first. Works efficiently and effectively
5 He should have an attitude towards cost-saving in all areas of work
6 Helps build a good organization by working towards achieving common goals. He should be able to communicate clearly and share relevant information thus building & strengthening communication channels.

III. Skills & Competencies

Formal Education – Diploma in Metallurgical Engineering 
Work experience – 1-2 years (Preferably in Metallurgical testing).
Knowledge & skills:
• Sound knowledge of Metallurgy fundamentals.
• Willingness to take initiative.
• Good team player. Positive, Go-getter attitude.
• Good computer & communication (oral & written) skills.
• Basic knowledge of Quality Management System ISO/TS 16949.
• Knowledge of Material Characterization techniques.
• Willing to travel frequently to wire rod suppliers for metallography testing purposes.
