About the role
Your Impact as Process Engineer
I. PURPOSE OF THE JOB
- Own a process domain in technology, develop activities to support the production of a high-quality products for internal and external customer.
- Analyze the critical parameters of the production process. propose & implement modifications which have a positive impact on stability of process and product properties to improve effectiveness, cost, quality, health & safety with the help of Six Sigma and Lean Management tools.
- Work close with the customer (internal & external as required) during development and approval of new products.
- Establish and improve daily management practices for (working) process domain to achieve excellent performance in quality.
- Define and manage improvement projects in the plants and develop the benchmark for processes within a defined scope in function of product & process innovation and efficiency targets.
- Co-operate intensively with the other process engineers, production, planning and maintenance teams in complex and integrated projects.
- Follow up the technical developments in know-how related to (working) technology domain and propose the use of new technologies, by building effective relationships with the International Technical Center, Process Engineers, and Process Owners in Bekaert plants worldwide.
II. ROLE DESCRIPTION
Raw Material (Wire rod)
- Clearance of wire rod as per the specifications and defined Bekaert internal
acceptance criteria. - Allocation of the wire rod as per the internal wire rod allocation matrix and
based upon processing feedback from next process. - Support in achieving the targets of domestic supplier raw material (wire rod)
consumption as per the defined KPIs. - Support in development of raw material in close co-ordination with
procurement and technical team.
Specifying and defining the process and product specification:
- Maintain process control charts, machine setting document, SOPs, shopfloor
guidelines, etc. - Regular follow-up with technology center for the updating of product and
process specification. - Co-ordination with Global process owner on the improvement projects
Data collection and analysis:
- Monitoring and controlling of overall HP (DWD+ISC) processability.
- Monitoring and controlling the die consumption, soap consumption, Copper
consumption and other consumables. - Sharing the monthly report with defined CFT – processability and
consumables. - Perform RI analysis for repetitive problems through systematic problem
solving technique.
Continuous improvement, COPQ & Cost saving technical projects
- Identify & lead the continuous improvement & cost saving technical projects
in HP process domain. - Drive the six sigma projects.
- Lead the global projects related to the HP process domain.
- Support Global team with all required validation and data as per the
requirement. - Close co-ordination with process owner team and other Bekaert plant
process engineers. - Lead the projects related to reduction in Scrap and Reject due to technical
issues. And support to production team in overall scrap and reject reduction. - Continuous improvement in consumables consumption and cost.
Online process control & problem solving:
- Monitoring, controlling & steering of identified critical parameter for process.
- Steering of the process depending upon the process related problems.
- Effective investigation & closure of the non-conformities raised during the
regular production. And support in investigation and closure of other
departmental non-conformities. - Monitoring and controlling the Ppk of defined product parameters as per the
defined targets. Sharing the monthly update along with action plan if needed
Documentation and controls:
- Support in preparation and control of documents required for APQP, PPAP,
etc. - Updating the documents from Shopfloor with latest changes - Setup sheets,
SOPs, Checklists, etc. - Timely preparation, updating and review of PFD, PFMEA and PCP as per
defined frequency criteria. - Effective investigation & closure of non-conformities raised during the
external audits, customer audits, internal audits, etc. - Timely completion of planned Gemba walks and Layer-Process Audits.
Training & Development
Effective training and development of the subordinates (process technicians)
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
- University degree in Material Science/Metallurgical Engineering.
- Minimum 4 to 6 years of experience in process department of a manufacturing company.
- Analytical thinking capabilities together with your hands-on approach.
- Results-oriented team player with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Professional growth ambitious
- Able to work autonomously and have a creative, innovative & flexible approach.
- Basic knowledge related to MS-Office, Minitab (good to have).
- Excellent command of both written and spoken English
- Green belt six sigma (good to have).
