The Quality Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of the QMS (Quality Management System), IATF16949 Certification, and quality control policies and programs that are aimed at providing the highest product quality level at the lowest operating cost.


Direct supervision: Document Controller and Quality Lab Technicians


Essential Job Functions

  1. Evaluates the various testing results for ensuring the quality standards of the manufacturing process and the final product are being met.
  2. Maintains close coordination with the Production Departments on quality standards through process improvements. This individual will monitor and coordinate, with Production, special trials to promote process improvements. Is also required to have effective open communications with Production Team Leaders and Managers regarding process parameters, quality results, and manufacturing problems. Will keep the plant informed of quality results through daily meetings and various quality alerts and reports.
  3. Will provide information to groups and work closely with the Training Coordinator in ensuring the Plant quality goals and objectives are met. This responsibility requires a thorough knowledge in principles of statistical process control.
  4. Is required to work closely with and coordinate activities with Central Quality Control and Central Technology in Belgium. This coordination will include new quality procedures, quality test information, customer’s product specifications, and information on product trials.
  5. Will cooperate with Technical Commercial Department on customer complaints, and will be required to visit customer facilities to investigate product problems.
  6. Must exercise personal leadership and communications to create a positive working environment that will ensure accomplishment of plant objectives and develop a spirit of cooperation and teamwork throughout the plant.  Must be a readily available source of information to solve any manufacturing problems within the plant around the clock.
  7. Responsible to ensure that all subordinate personnel receive sufficient training, with on-going instruction to continually improve the performance of the plant.
  8. Direct the Quality Control activities at the Rogers plant.  Review and update quality control procedures and testing procedures on a continuing basis, and ensure the Quality Management System is kept current. Instruct subordinate personnel in the interpretation of Process Control parameters and procedures.
  9. Coordinate with Plant manufacturing personnel and CQA to resolve problems relative to product designs, specifications, materials, tooling, and production operations affecting product quality.   Participate with Manufacturing Management in problems of quality and reliability, and maintain product quality records and prepare reports as required.  Analyze such records for trends, potential problem areas, etc.
  10. Maintain quality of incoming material and develop testing procedures and methods to ensure constant quality. Specify reception control procedures of all rod and maintain stability programs of tests with CQA for conformity. Responsible for coordinating quality requirements for rod supplies and to work Initiate special studies and analysis to evaluate special trials. Responsible to ensure new trials are properly coordinated and accurately recorded.
  11. Maintain accurate and organized quality records and reports.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical or Materials Engineering
