About the Half-Product Bead Wire Technician - Rome, GA role

 

The person in this role will provide assistance in the analysis, control, instruction, steering, production and problem solving of the processes within the Half Product and Bead wire Departments to ensure that production/chemical processes are maintained in such a manner as to ensure that production requirements are met in accordance with outlined specifications, and in a timely and cost efficient manner. This role will report to the Technical Manager.

 

Essential Functions

  • Assist the HP/BW Supervisor as required to ensure the continuity of operations/production. 
  • Works with other Technicians and Technical Group.
  • Directs/participates in set-up, adjustment, and operation of machines/blocks/bearings/baths/ systems/etc, utilized in the Half Prod./Bead wire departments/production lines/processes to ensure that they are operated within required levels of productivity and quality in accordance to specified requirements.

  • Ensure proper operation of all straightener block assemblies in HP/BW Dept.

  • Capable of collecting samples, monitoring, analyzing, recording/reporting results, adjusting, correcting, building, and transferring of chemicals and baths in all chemical pickling, patenting, plating, and other chemical processes to ensure adherence to product/quality specifications within Half product and Bead wire.

  • Perform required lab tests to determine that product conforms to established quality standards/procedures.

  • Assist in the collection of data to identify production problems within the Half Product and Bead wire Dept.

  • Assist in the resolution of problems and implementation of resolutions within department to improve processes, production, and quality levels.

  • Oversee/participate in the start-up/shutdown of process lines in HP/BW Dept. as required.

  • Preparation of new bath in HP / IBW line - Participate in the initial set-up and instruction needed to commission new equipment/machinery/process/product, etc for production in HP/BW Dept.

  • Follow the test frequency defined as per PCP, Maintaining record of startup check list , preventive line check , bath test parameters and steering log.

  • Act as a team member to Support Technical team on the process improvement projects as an when required related to testing. -

  • Assist in the follow-up of trials through all production areas, provide instruction, identification, collection of samples, follow-up/analyze problems related to process problems associated with trial material, etc.

  • Calibration / verification of the equipment as assigned.

  • Monitoring of stock level of the consumable and chemicals used during the process steering and co ordinate with the responsible person to maintained sufficient stock level.

  • Participate in customer, QMS or internal audit.

  • Confers with supervisor to interpret test results, quality specifications and other process matters to ensure the continuous improvement to process and quality standards.

  • Provides technical/practical advice and instructions/training regarding the operation of production machinery; new and existing procedures machines, employees, etc. to enhance understanding of machine characteristics/capabilities to the hourly work force.

  • Analyze returned wire/reels from customers for defect and reason of defect.

  • Maintain an orderly and clean working environment to promote sound industrial safety and 5S practices.

  • To be capable of filling in for the supervisor in case of an emergency absence of said supervisor.

  • Conducting GEMBA and LPA audits as per defined frequency.

 

Role Requirements

  • High school diploma coupled with a basic understanding of the wire manufacturing process, and chemicals used in the manufacturing process is desired.

  • Work proficiency in a minimum of two jobs in the Half Product and/or Bead wire Dept. SPC and computer training desired.

  • Successfully complete the pre-requisite testing in Math Skills, Reading/Comprehension Skills, Analyzing Skills, Attention To Detail Skills, Logic and Reasoning Skills, and Mechanical Comprehension Skills.,
