Purpose of the job

 

Bekaert is leading transformation program to enhance the digital experience end-to-end that drive impact across multiple channels. Bekaert’s Operations are focusing to improve relative cost position & cash utilization in manufacturing and supply chain.

Governance practices to support us in achieving our digital ambitions. To establish a sustained enterprise wide (Master) Data Management and Data Governance approach in co-drive with functions and businesses, the Advanced Digital Solutions (ADS) organization will strengthen the capability with Data and Information Experts/Architects with a product group/domain focus.
Your task as Data Architect for Operations is to lead data architecture & modelling on domain level globally, co-drive with business data (content) owners, functional stakeholders and other data experts that increases the Bekaert's success by defining, building and deploying digital solutions in Operations. The spectrum of your task’s ranges from innovative product solutions to optimising the efficiency of existing products. You will collaborate with product teams under Operations to strengthen the impact of, and provides recommendations on, business information and (master) data. You will work in close co-operation with teams from other IT and Digital, Operations Excellence, Commercial Excellence and various Business Units across multiple regions.

 

Your role

 

As a Data Architect for Operations domain (oversees data architecture, modelling, quality and governance, etc.),you represent business information and data by integrating strategic vision and roadmap for Operations, you will assure and drive in the process domain of Operations:

  • Influence information strategy: Partner with business & ADS leadership and through the rationalization of the information value chain, the data architect will provide strategic recommendations to maximize the value of information assets via their creation, access and use.
  • Refine the data architecture and modelling: Enhance data architecture with appropriate data model and its mapping with system architecture and process framework with collaboration of product teams. This enables data quality management by identifying data quality rules and organize the processes to systematic measure, cleanse and maintain data quality.
  • Maximize value derived from data and analytics: Foster value creation using the organization's data assets, as well as the external data ecosystem. This includes aiding value creation through data exploitation, envisioning data-enabled strategies, as well as enabling all forms of business outcomes through analytics, data and analytics governance, and enterprise information policy.
  • Enable effective data and analytics governance: Suggest who can take what actions with what information, and under what circumstances. Deploy the (master) data governance framework and use the supporting data management tools. Assist data and analytics leaders, and business and ADS leadership in developing information governance processes and structures.
  • Manage risk and lifecycle: Aid the definition of data classifications and data zoning to allow information
  • assets to be immediately identified and proactively managed as more information becomes federated in a
  • digital economy. Manage data lifecycle by clarifying the relevant policies, automating, monitoring and
  • actively managing the effectiveness of implementation.
  • Secure data and analytic assets: Aid in the analysis of data and analytics security requirements and solutions, and work with the chief information security officer (CISO) to ensure that enterprise data and analytics assets are treated as protected assets.

 

Your Profile

 

  • Experienced in influencing people at a senior level across the business, the wider group and key external partners to establish the strategy and contribute to innovation
  • Experienced leader capable of influencing and inspiring cross-functional teams to challenge the norm and deliver innovative solutions
  • Business domain knowledge, data/content and process understanding on Operations, including manufacturing, end to end supply chain, engineering, etc. (which are more important than technical skills).
  • System integration experience, including interface design, and familiarity with modern integration platform and SaaS-oriented architecture techniques.
  • Data modeling and information classification expertise at the enterprise level.
  • Understanding of common information architecture frameworks and information models.
  • Understanding of metamodels, taxonomies and ontologies, as well as of the challenges of applying structured techniques (data modeling) to less-structured sources.
  • Familiarity with data science concepts, as well as MDM, business intelligence, and data warehouse design and implementation techniques.
  • Experience with distributed management and analytics in cloud and hybrid environments. Also an understanding of a variety of data access and analytic approaches (for example, microservices and eventbased architectures).
  • Knowledge of problem analysis, structured analysis and design, and programming techniques.
  • Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations.
  • Ability to assess rapidly changing technologies and apply them to business needs.
  • Effective conceptualization, pattern recognition and teaming
  • Bachelor or Master degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent through experience in the process domain with demonstrated affinity for master data, data governance and/or analytics.
  • 8+ years of overall experience, 5+ years progressive work experience in data function related to the manufacturing industry and at least 2 years working experience as data architect
  • Experience of manufacturing or supply chain
  • Experience in managing globally distributed teams and partners
