Purpose and Mission

  • Responsible for overseeing the data engineering team  in designing, developing, and maintaining the data infrastructure necessary for collecting, transforming, storing, and processing data. Ensures that data flows smoothly and is available for analysis and decision-making.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Lead the data engineering architecture, design and development in data engineering of Operations (Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Logistics, Engineering, Technology, Safety, etc.).
  • Lead and guide a team of 5-10 Data Engineers, providing technical mentorship, coaching, and support in their day-to-day activities.
  • Review and challenge the technical setup and code developed by the Data Engineers to ensure high-quality, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with the Digital Manufacturing, Intelligent Processes and E2E supply chain teams, and Lean Data Product team to align on project objectives, requirements, and timelines.
  • Participate in the design, development, and implementation of data pipelines, data models, and ETL processes using Azure Synapse, Data Factory, Data Fabric, SQL, Python, and other relevant technologies.
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate requirements into effective data solutions.
  • Monitor data engineering processes, troubleshoot issues, and optimize data workflows to ensure data quality, reliability, and performance.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies related to data engineering and analytics, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (3+ year) in a leadership role, managing a team of Data Engineers or similar roles.
  • Proven experience (7+ years) in data engineering, including designing and implementing scalable data pipelines and data solutions.
  • Strong technical expertise in Azure Synapse, Data Factory, Data Fabric, Power BI, SQL, Python, and other relevant data engineering tools and technologies.
  • Solid understanding of data engineering principles, ETL processes, and data integration techniques.
  • Experience with code review, performance optimization, and ensuring coding best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a passion for driving data-driven insights and solutions. 
  • Experience in the Operations domain, such as Manufacturing, Quality, or Supply Chain, is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Lean methodologies.
  • Relevant certifications in Azure or data engineering.

Previous Experience

  • Minimum 5-7 years in data engineering, data warehousing, or a related field.
  • Proven experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools.

Qualifications and Education

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
