Job Title: QUALITY MANAGER

 

Reports To: Plant Manager

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

In addtion to other duties that may be assigned, incumbents will be expected to perform the following:

 

Safety/Housekeeping: Follow all Job Safety/Health & Environmental rules/policies to include wearing/maintaining proper PPE; Follow good housekeeping/5S rules/policies; Follow BeCare/Bekaert Lifesaving rules/policies; Report any unsafe work act/condition to your supervisor or other member of management; Report any accident/incident and/or near miss accident/incident, including property damange to your supervisor or other member of management.

 

Quality/Integrity: Perform job to the expected quality standards to include applicable Policies/Guidelines, SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and/or Work Instructions; Meet/Exceed expected work/product quality standards; Work well with other team members to create a positive work environment free from harassment and where other team members are treated with integrity and respect; Act in accordance with the Bekaert Code of Conduct.

 

Job Duties: Responsible for establishing, implementing, and directing quality control efforts to ensure that requirements for processing components, and other materials into finished goods and products conform to quality standards. Through subordinate supervisors or professional staff, establishes and maintains quality assurance standards, procedures, and controls. Works directly with manufacturing to schedule and control inspection activities and to enforce requirements as specified by raw materials, ingredients, products and package specifications, and regulatory agencies. Reviews contract documentation for completeness and accuracy. Works with research and development during new product start-ups and establishes checkpoints for testing new products and processes. Initiates corrective action for procedural product or process deficiencies. Develops and implements a program of supplier relations. May function as a key quality representative for supplier and customer audits. May serve as the ISO 9001 management representative. Required to conform to safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe working environment at all times.

 

Physical Requirements: Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of force greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of th

 

Physical Activities: (1) Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion.(2) Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or

crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.  This factor is important if the

amount and kind of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and

maintenance of body equilibrium. (3) Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.(4) Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees. (5) Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.(6) Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. (7) Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time. (8) Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another. (9) Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward. (10) Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion. (11) Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles. (12) Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling. (13) Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. (14) Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips. (15) Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. (16) Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discriminations in sound. (17) Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

 

Visual Acuity: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, expansive reading, visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection), using measurement devices, and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

 

Working Conditions: (1) The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED and Four Year Degree (related to job function) and Four Years job related experience
