Purpose/Objective of the Position:
Develop and improve equipment and processes, implement automation opportunities, design tooling/fixtures
and develop and execute capital expenditure plans on equipment and infrastructure in the wire manufacturing
plant. This position is in the Bridon American Technical Group reporting to the Regional Technical and Quality
Director.
Duties & Responsibilities:
*Manufacturing Support
o Defining manufacturing standards
o Implementing automation opportunities
o Improving current or developing new manufacturing methods by
Effectively interfacing with manufacturing personnel including soliciting observations
from operators
Documenting labor and material costs to permit accurate costing analysis of design and
process to implement
Designing and conducting research programs
Applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials
Conferring with equipment vendors;
o Resolving safety, quality and manufacturing issues in the work centers when required
*Process
o Improving current or developing new manufacturing processes by
Studying product requirements
Researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment
Conferring with equipment vendors
Contributes when needed to
Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space
requirements, and equipment layout.
Assure product and process quality by
Designing testing methods
Testing finished product and process capabilities
Establishing standards
Confirming manufacturing processes
Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing
information and trends.
Complete improvement and development projects by training and guiding technicians
*Capital
o Assisting in preparation and execution of the capital expenditure plan
Coordinating projects with people at all levels, departments and facilities within the
organization and with outside suppliers and agencies as applicable
Quality
Collaborate with customers’ quality and engineering personnel to determine critical part
features and review manufacturability of design. Make recommendations to modify customer
part specifications and tolerances as necessary to support cost effective production.
Perform duties in accordance with quality system requirements as the voice of BridonBekaert’s customers.
Support Sales, Purchasing, Engineering, and Production to resolve customer complaints and
concerns.
Additional duties and special projects as assigned
Qualification Requirements
Education: | Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing or Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial or Metallurgical) or equivalent experience. |
Experience: | 0 to 5 years engineering experience in wire rope, wire rope consumer or metals manufacturing industry |
Skilled At: | Team building and interpersonal relations. Communications, verbal and written |
Computing; Fluent in AutoCAD; Proficient in Windows, MS Office, Minitab and AS400
Root Cause Analysis and Problem solving
Working in a union environment
