Role:- Management Accountant

Location:-  Newcastle

Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum (dependant on experience)

About the role

To assist the UK Operations Finance Controller in delivering the business objectives for the UK.

This will be done through the preparation of management accounts as well as the preparation of budgets and regular forecasts. This role will also be a key business partner, identifying risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities when they arise.

This role will be focused on the Manufacturing side of the business however it will provide exposure to the wider business. This will encompass both our Newcastle and Doncaster sites. Some occasional travel will be required to the Doncaster manufacturing site and Head Office.

Responsibilities

As a Management Accountant you will be:-

• Driving the month-end close for 3 manufacturing sites and the technology centre.
• Developing budgets and financial forecasts to guide decision-making and ensure that manufacturing operations are aligned with financial goals.
• Being a key business partner to both manufacturing operations and R&D departments.
• Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production efficiency, labour utilisation, conversion costs and inventory turnover to assess operational performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Investigating variances between actual and budgeted costs, providing ongoing commentary and identifying areas where improvements can be made.
• Evaluating investment opportunities in new equipment, technology, or facilities to support manufacturing operations and improve long-term competitiveness.
• Monitoring of capital projects to enable on-time delivery within budget.
• Providing financial analysis and insights to support strategic decisions such as product pricing and process improvements.
• Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, preparing financial reports for management, and supporting audits.
• Driving the annual R&D tax credit submission.
• Developing systems and processes to improve project accounting.

The Ideal Candidate will possess or be able to demonstrate: -

• ACCA or CIMA qualified. Candidates nearing completion of their qualification may be considered.
• Ideally, you will have experience gained within a manufacturing setting.
• Demonstratable experience of being able to communicate at all levels.
• Experience of analyzing and managing production costs (preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to interogate reports.
• The role will best suit someone that is happy to work alone but support is available as required.
