Purpose of the Job:


We are seeking a motivated Trainee Technician to assist our Technician with the safe and correct assembly and testing of company products, as well as qualification testing of new developments. This role involves supporting external testing work, managing the goods inwards process, and maintaining the Flintstone facility. You will work under the guidance of experienced Technicians, contributing to various tasks and projects while building the technical knowledge necessary for your career development.

 

This job would ideally suit someone that would like to progress to an engineer and learn from a 'best in class' team. You will be given the opportunity to grow with us and study on day release for a HNC in Engineering.

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist in preparation for test and assembly procedures.
  • Stage components and tooling required for assembly and test.
  • Maintain workshop equipment as directed by the Technician/Operations Manager.
  • Ensure the workshop is clean, tidy, and free from trip and slip hazards.
  • Offload, book in, and store parts and equipment received.
    • Manual handling
    • Use of trolley, forklifts, cranes
    • Dimensional control
  • Assemble equipment for test, including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems (low voltage 12/24v).
  • Test pressurised and load-bearing systems (hydraulic and pneumatic testing from 0 – 10,000 psi).
    • Apply loads via hydraulic cylinders.
    • Record results and report observations and faults.
    • Calibrate instrumentation.
  • Comply with the internal integrated management system as per the competency matrix.
  • Maintain the Flintstone facility and equipment, following health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Including but not restricted to LOLER and PUWER.
  • Participate in structured learning and development opportunities, including formal training sessions, workshops, and on-the-job instruction.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Minimum: English, Maths, and one science at standard grade.
  • Further education: Willing to work towards an HNC in an Engineering Discipline.
  • A strong desire to learn and develop new skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate well with others.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook, including electronic calendar.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
  • Must be able to follow instructions.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to ensure tasks are prioritised appropriately.
  • Honesty, reliability, and discretion are essential as you will be working with confidential matters.
  • Practical and mechanical aptitude.
