HR Legal Advisor & Total Rewards Manager Belgium

About the role

As HR Legal Advisor & Total Rewards Manager Belgium, you will provide expert legal advice on employment and labour law matters while managing the compensation and benefits programs for Bekaert in Belgium, covering nine locations.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

Employment & Labour Law

• Provide legal support to HR Business Partners and the HR Service Center on individual and collective employment and labour law matters, in collaboration with external legal advisors where appropriate.
• Maintain expertise in Belgian collective labour agreements, work rules, policies, regulations and other relevant employment legislation.
• Advise on and contribute to the drafting of collective labour agreements, internal policies and guidelines.
• Participate in discussions and negotiations with management and trade unions, providing legal guidance throughout the process.
• Represent Bekaert in relevant sectoral committees and working groups on legal matters.
• Stay up to date with developments in Belgian legislation, case law and best practices, and translate these into clear and practical advice for senior leadership.

Total Rewards Management

• Own and manage the job grading model and related processes for blue-collar, white-collar and management employees in Belgium.
• Manage key compensation processes in Belgium, including the annual merit increase and variable pay programs.
• Oversee employee benefit programs, including medical insurance, company car policy, pension plans and bike leasing, in close collaboration with external partners, HR Business Partners and the HR Service Center.

Projects

• Lead projects to translate national legislation and regulatory developments into pragmatic and compliant policies and guidelines, including areas such as pay transparency, mobility budget and social elections.
• Review and further integrate compensation and benefits policies at both legal entity and Belgium level.

About you

Essential skills & Competencies 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, preferably with a specialisation in employment or labour law, or a related field. 
• Several years of experience as a legal advisor in Belgium within an international industrial environment is essential. Experience in a Total Rewards role is a strong plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, pragmatic and persuasive advice.
• Ability to navigate effectively within a matrix organisation, with strong stakeholder management skills.
• Strong advisory capabilities combined with the ability to take a leading role in projects and guide stakeholders towards practical solutions.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in HRIS systems and Excel.
• Service-oriented mindset, balanced with appropriate adherence to policies, guidelines and governance requirements.
